Where party systems stand on climate, in four planes

Built from 365 national election manifestos across 22 countries. Each plane keeps two measures apart rather than netting them into one score, because the combinations are the point — a party can promise a great deal and aim none of it where the emissions are.

Provisional working output, not published figures. These come from development builds. Several scoring choices are awaiting Code-Owner review, and one definitional question — whether the position measure scores statements or extracted commitments — is open and would move the numbers. Read these for shape and coverage rather than for values.

All countries

One point per country-election, aggregated across parties by seats held. Larger marks rest on more of the parliament; hollow marks have an error bar of exactly zero, meaning the evidence was too thin to vary.

One country over time

The same planes for a single country. The heavy line is the party system as a whole, weighted by seats; the lighter lines are individual parties, with each dot sized by the seat share that party won at that election. Arrows run oldest to most recent.
